Q: My Aircraft is detected as the wrong type in OnAir. How do I fix this?

Unfortunately, this is an issue that can arise from time to time. While we have done our best to ensure that OnAir can reliably tell one aircraft from another, we rely on information being provided via the simulator. Sometimes this information is simply inaccurate and we have not found a way to consistently work around this. If you find that your aircraft is being recognised but as the wrong type of aircraft then there are a few possible causes:

1) Sadly some aircraft developers have recently chosen to start recycling code and data from other aircraft without any modification to reflect the true nature of the aircraft they are making. This unfortunately means that the simulator ends up reporting that you have loaded a different aircraft, with all of the weights, fuel amounts and other details being the same as something else already in the OnAir Database.

2) Some developers release their aircraft with multiple variants (for example, passenger AND freighter variants) but forget to change things such as the empty weight, causing them to appear as an identical aircraft when reported back from the simulator to OnAir.

All we can urge you to do in these cases is contact the developer of the aircraft and ask them to make at least some small changes to the configuration. Changing the empty weight (OEW), Maximum Take-Off Weight (MTOW) and/or fuel tanks would be sufficient for OnAir to be able to detect it as a new and unique aircraft type.

3) There is a very slight possibility that two aircraft actually have identical numbers in the metrics we use to distinguish them. It has not yet occurred as of the writing of this, but should it arise please let us know.
