Aircraft Moderation

This article describes the process and what data OnAir uses to moderate the Community Suggested Aircrafts.

OnAir allows different variants of the aircraft it supports as well as the addition of new aircraft. These differences include but are not limited to: fuel capacity, empty weight, max gross weight, etc.

As OnAir uses data from Add-ons instead of real aircraft, some of these variants might not exist in real life, or they may differ from their real life variants.

Importing new aircraft or a new variant #

Before a new variant can be added to OnAir a couple of things need to be done:

  1. A test flight must be made by the player in a simulator flight;
  2. The OnAir Aircraft Moderation Team has to check if the player submitted data is coherent

To submit a new aircraft or aircraft variant, the system will ask you to perform an in-simulator flight.

This test flight has to be made to gather data about the flight characteristics of the ‘to-be added’ aircraft and be sure that we can communicate with the add-on.

You can view the flight’s data (average Fuel Flow and Cruise Speed) by using the “View all players flights stats” from the Aircraft Details page.

This data can end up being quite far from the real aircraft, depending on the quality of your add-on.

As soon as a valid Test Flight is registered, the aircraft appears in the Aircraft Moderation Status list accessible from the “World > Aircraft Moderation” menu.

An aircraft can have one of these 4 statuses:

IconDescription
The Test Flight has been made and the team will moderate it.
mceclip5.pngThe team moderated the aircraft and it has been accepted. It is ready to use in OnAir on all worlds.
mceclip6.pngThe team moderated the aircraft and it has been rejected. The reason is noted in the ‘Comment’ column.
mceclip7.pngThe Test Flight has been made but included incoherent data. Any user can redo the Test Flight.

The following data is moderated by our Aircraft Moderation Team and will be changed, if found to be inaccurate or an attempt to blatantly cheat:

  • Maximum Seats – this is the maximum number of passenger seats in an economy configuration and is initially estimated with a formula that involves the aircraft’s weight and fuel capacity
  • Maximum payload
  • Needs a copilot – by default, a copilot is needed when either the maximum gross weight is greater than 12,000 lbs. or if the maximum seating capacity is 14 or more.

Requesting Changes on existing aircraft #

Once an aircraft is available in OnAir, any player can submit a change request by submitting a ticket on our support platform.
