What is Under the North Star?
It’s a co-op player-driven campaign mixing multiple games (DCS, Command: Modern Operations, Arma 3, and Microsoft Flight Simulator) to create an immersive, interactive and extensive story.
“It is spring, 2009. World War 3 has engulfed Europe. Finnish troops have lost large areas of Lapland to Russia, leading NATO to create the Combined Task Force-NORTH. This coalition is made up of the Nordic countries and other allies in a desperate struggle for survival. Human players take key roles as commanders and are entrusted with making decisions, creating battle plans, and supervising their execution not only in.”
Each month players will vote on a new Theater Objective out of three choices. The winning result becomes the active task for the commanders to analyze and execute. Under the North Star creates a multimodal PvE experience where a player can choose their style of participation. The main Area of Operations is defined by Orbx’s Kola Peninsula map. The periphery, especially the Russian Bastion, is simulated through Command: Modern Operations. Logistics and intelligence flights will be flown in Microsoft Flight Simulator. Finally, boots on the ground in the battlefields of Arma 3.
While Combat Flight Operations are an important part of this campaign, our Logistics Arm welcomes all players of Microsoft Flight Simulator and X-Plane!Logistics are important for all war effort, and in this multi-modal wargame, OnAir’s Virtual Airline system is used to create a comprehensive logistics simulation with a fleet of military jets and civilian charters flying to support the frontline. Using several Norwegian airbases as Virtual Airline FBOs, and a pre-determined fleet that can not be in every location at once, players are challenged to complete weekly tasks, and mobility commanders are asked to prioritize what they feel is most useful at any moment when choices are to be made.
With this, you can fly airliners and military transports and contribute even if you are not flying a fighter jet over the frontline. As our goal is to offer something for many different tastes, we hope this will offer a blend of flying activities like none other!Missions and scenarios are played in these other games with operations and outcomes supporting the Saturday DCS gameday. The Saturday flight is the primary mode of progressing the story. Flights are created to fulfill the plans of the commanders, and volunteer flight leads ensure the flight members are up to the task.
